Memo

To: City College Office of the President and Office of Faculties

From: Fuat Mondal

Subject: CCNY Shuttle Buses

Date: March 5th, 2020

The purpose of the memo is to demonstrate why shuttle bus service shall be expanded and improved for people to go from 125th street stop to the 145th street stop.

Summary

All members of the City College community take the CCNY Shuttle Bus Service to commute to the campus where it usually can be packed every day due to the amount of buses there are going from 125th to 145th street stop. There are only two buses in total that goes to and from those stops which subjects to longer hours waiting for each bus arrival.

Discussion

The people who rely upon this service need to wait up to 15 minutes every time they go from either 125th street stop or 145th street stop. There are already buses not being used in the CCNY campus and it should be used to upgrade the times needed to wait for students to get to City College. People are devastated by waiting for the bus to arrive and walk all the way to the campus where suddenly the bus arrives. The CCNY shuttle bus app is great for telling the time on when the bus is going to arrive but is not accurate enough. This app should have more features like tracking the bus and where it is now, or a GPS tracker on the bus to tell what route it is going and where it can be next.

Recommendation

I would suggest that we talk on how we can resolve the issue for the greater good and help students track ahead of time on what bus they need to take to get into the campus. If you do not want to speak, I would highly suggest the following things into consideration: more shuttle buses going to and from City College may be a minimum of four, live GPS tracker in the buses to track which direction and to see when the bus will arrive, a messaging app that can track which stop and the amount in minutes the bus is going be in either 125th street or 145th street.
